New Side Bar

Take a look to the right!  We have added a new side bar that links you directly to our Etsy shop where all of our items are for sale!  We've decided to use our Etsy shop as our main selling location, because it will allow us to feature all of our products on a more user friendly site.  The side bar to the right will display some of the current items we have for sale, and with a simple click, you'll be taken right to our Etsy store.

Thanks for supporting our business!

Yesterday we visited a small 'zoo' down the road a ways. We've passed it a dozen times or more and kept thinking we'd stop in, so finally...since we had nothing else to do, we went. It was somewhat of a disappointment...more like someone's personal collection of exotic animals than an actual zoo. The two things that made it worth the trip though is the fact that AJ had a blast and I was able to get some amazing photos of a male peacock. So, it wasn't a complete waste of time / money, but certainly not something we'll go back to.
Oh yes, I can't forget AJ's favorite photo:

Funeral plans

No, no one has died. Mom & I have been talking about what's going to happen when Grandma passes. It's inevitable...she gets worse each day...each hour. The difficult thing is that she is to be buried in Missouri, but is living in Texas. There's so much more to be decided when there are multiple states involved. It's impossible to talk to her about her wishes...her responses usually include, "Well that's years from now" or "There's no need to talk about that, I'm perfectly healthy!" *sigh* Grandpa hates discussing anything to do with death, so that leaves Mom & I to figure it out. It needs to be done now, while we're not in a rush and no one is grieving, but it's very sad to discuss. It's an eye-opening, reality check. The only thing certain in life is death.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up soon!
I hope that our readers will consider our hand-crocheted necklaces as a gift for their mom this year! My Mother & I hand-crochet each one...these necklaces are unique, lightweight, and fun and make wonderful gifts! There is a small bead at the back that allows you to lengthen or shorten the necklace to the desired length.
They're great for ladies who have had neck injuries or who get head aches - these are so light weight, most times you'll forget you're even wearing one! We offer more than 80 different colors to chose from, many with sparkle threads. They can be worn with T-shirts, turtleneck tops, dresses, tanks, and more! Wear them dressy, or causal! They're also wonderful for nurses, who often times are not allowed to wear metal jewelry at work. These necklaces have no metal, which also makes them great for people with nickel allergies.
With more and more companies sending their business overseas, my Mother & I are proud to hand-make these necklaces right here in the USA! Please think carefully when purchasing your Mother's Day gift this year. We need to bring our support back to local companies. Visit www.CrimsonCactus.com to view our necklaces. To ensure delivery in time for Mother's Day, please place your order no later than Monday, May 7th.

Monthly recap, etc.

Is April really almost over? It seems like each month goes by faster than the last! It's been a great month. We spent some time at Mom & Dad's house helping Mom get all of the ceramic stuff unpacked and put away. Now that the kiln is operational again, we're making lots of plans to get our candle business back up and running full time! We just launched our brand new website this week, www.TheSixScents.com and will be working on adding lots of new candles in the weeks to come. We added almost 30 new necklace colors at CrimsonCactus.com as well! Between the two websites and our Etsy shop, we've been pretty busy over the past few weeks getting orders shipped out all across the country! Slowly, but surely the word is getting out about our products and we're very excited! AJ starts back to school next week. I've tweaked his summer schedule a bit to coincide with Keith's schedule so we'll (hopefully) be able to take a few vacations / trips in the next few months! There's lots of places I'd like to take AJ that I went to as a kid...Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Fort Davis, Marfa...but there are also lots of place we'd like to visit that we've never been to at all. It's kinda difficult to choose where to go first! We've got a few landscaping projects that we're going to be working on over the next few months. We're going to add a walkway path from our front porch to the curb (to make the entry a little more 'user friendly') and we are going to put in a hummingbird garden in the back. The rose bushes have started blooming and our vegetable garden is doing great, too! AJ goes out to pick tomatoes every day! Hope everyone had a great April and will have an even better May!

Happy Birthday

Today, AJ turns 7! Seven?! Wow, I can't believe it's been 7 years already. He has grown up so much in the last 7 years. Yesterday, we had the privileged of celebrating his birthday with our family and a few friends. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before the party started, a few hundred, uninvited guests showed up and took over the back yard!

Honey bees! After a quick phone call to a local bee keeper, (who was unfortunately out of town) we were advised that the bees were just traveling in between homes and had chosen our tree as a resting spot. He said they should be gone in a few days and maybe even a few hours. Thankfully, they didn't stay long and were headed on their way about 4 hours later.

AJ had a wonderful Lego Party! Thanks to Mom for making an amazing Lego Brick cake!! AJ & I had lots of fun creating the Lego candy dishes and Lego chip bowls.

We'll be going to get his 2nd grade / 7 year old pictures taken this week. For now, this shows him at his best: Eating and being silly! (Yup, he takes after his daddy!)

Happy Birthday, AJ!
